Review: Τhe Man From Nowhere

Ι never heard before about "The Man Fron Nowhere" (2010) but following a suggestion by a fellow action junkie and his review, I decided to get a copy and see for my shelf  if this South Korean movie delivers the goods.

The Story: An ex-special agent Tae-sik Cha (Bin Won) leads a simple and a very unsocial quiet life as a pawn shop owner. He only has a few customers and a friend name Somi, a little girl next door. As Taesik spends more time with Somi, he befriends her. When Somi is kidnapped by a drug and human organ trafficking gang, Tae-sik tries to save her before it's too late...

The Review:  Given the amount of the "political correctness" and similar bullshit that water's down a good number of action flicks that come from the U.S, the Asian market seems like an action haven for anybody who labels his self as an action flick junkie and is in need of a good dose of his drug.

The Man From Nowhere is exactly that. A strong dose for any action fan who is in need for a solid and good flick. The movie belongs to action/thriller waters though but it builds up the story with great force and it makes you glue your eyes to the screen. he story is a hybrid between Leon The Professional and Man On Fire and it's nicely done, even with the usual South Korean over drama scenes...

The action is very well done and even though there aren't lot of fights, the ones that exist, will satisfy  for sure. 

Overall, The Man From Nowhere has a great and well done story (even if it's not groundbreaking), strong characters and strong action. So if you are in need of a solid dose of action with all the things mentioned above, go ahead. The Man From Nowhere delivers the goods.

Το "The Man From Nowhere" έχει βγει εδώ και 4 χρονάκια περίπου, αλλά ομολογώ πως αγνοούσα την ύπαρξη της ταινίας μέχρι πρόσφατα. Την ταινία μου τη πρότεινε ένας καλός φίλος και action junkie και έτσι αποφάσισα να βρώ μια κόπια και να διαπιστώσω αν αυτή η ταινία από την Νότιο Κορέα "παραδίδει τα καλούδια"...

The Story: Ένας πρώην ειδικός πράκτορας ο Tae-Sik Cha (Bin Won) ζει μια πάρα πολύ ήσυχη και αντικοινωνική ζωή ως ιδιοκτήτης ενός μικρού ενεχυροδανειστηρίου. Έχει λίγους πελάτες και μια φίλη που ονομάζεται Somi, ένα κοριτσάκι που ζει ακριβώς στο ίδιο κτήριο με αυτόν. Όταν λοιπόν η Somi πέφτει θύμα απαγωγής από μια συμμορία που εμπορεύεται ναρκωτικά και ανθρώπινα όργανα, ο Tae-Sik προσπαθεί να την σώσει πριν είναι πολύ αργά...

The Review:  Με δεδομένο  οτι ένας αρκετός αριθμός action ταινιών από τις ΗΠΑ έχει επηρραστεί από όλο το πανηγυράκι του "political correctness" και από άλλες τέτοιες παρόμοιες μαλακίες, με αποτέλεσμα να "νερώνει" το αποτέλεσμα, η Ασιατική αγορά μοιάζει με καταφύγιο για κάθε action junkie και βρίσκεται σε αναζήτηση μιας καλής δόσης. 

Το Man Fron Nowhere προσφέρει ακριβώς αυτό. Μια δυνατή δόση για κάθε action λάτρη που βρίσκεται στην ανάγκη για ένα στιβαρό και καλό φιλμάκι. Η ταινία παρά το γεγονός πως κινείται στα νερά του action/thriller βγάζει τρομερή δυναμική και σε κάνει να κολλάς στην οθόνη. 

Το στόρι είναι ένα υβρίδιο ανάμεσα σε Leon The Professional και το Man On Fire και παρά το γεγονός πως είναι παρών τα γνωστά Ασιατικά στοιχεία με το υπερβάλλων drama, είναι εκτελεσμένο άψογα. 

Η δράση είναι χορταστική και παρά το γεγονός πως δεν παρέχεται μεγάλος αριθμός fights, όσοι παρέχονται ικανοποιούν και με το παραπάνω.

Εν κατακλείδι, το The Man Fron Nowhere διαθέτει εξαιρετικά εκτελεσμένο στόρι, δυνατούς χαρακτήρες, δυνατό action και όπως αποδείχθηκε, "παραδίδει τα καλούδια".
